Existing indicative starting price
The public starting point for an existing-space utility conversion is £6,000 including VAT (£5,000 plus VAT). It is indicative and is not a quotation.
The written quotation is for the particular room. Old boxing, masonry or fitted cabinets may sit between the machine and the connection. The selected appliance instructions supply the connection limits. If a separate pump appears in the design, its manufacturer and the appointed plumber or plumbing designer confirm the duty and maintenance access.
In the Stockbridge cupboard, the worktop and storage were shaped around appliances that had already been chosen. Another brief may still be missing the appliance models or a view from the other side of the wall.
Before old boxing is opened
HSE guidance identifies buildings constructed or refurbished before 2000 as the main period of concern for asbestos-containing materials. The initial conversation records whether the homeowner needs to appoint an asbestos surveyor before suspect fabric is disturbed.
Moisture can be a different question from the machine connection. Damp investigation is not a standalone Sweet Homes service; where the source is unclear, the homeowner appoints the appropriate surveyor. Any ventilation design or approval information comes through the homeowner’s appointed professional.
